How VettedHaul maps to The Integrity Framework

VettedHaul is evaluated against The Integrity Framework v1.0, published by Startvest LLC. This statement maps each Layer 1 veto to VettedHaul's current product state and lists the outstanding gaps honestly.

What VettedHaul sells

VettedHaul is documentation tooling for freight brokers. It captures FMCSA safety rating, CSA scores, certificate of insurance, and operating authority at the moment of booking, locks each record cryptographically, and exports a subpoena-ready PDF + JSON evidence pack on demand.

What VettedHaul does not sell: legal advice, a guarantee that the carrier is safe, a substitute for insurance, or a substitute for defense counsel. The product output is evidence of the broker's vetting work, not a certificate of carrier quality.

Pricing is public: Free (5 vets/month, no export), Defender at $99/month, Defender Pro at $249/month. No paid tier alters the rigor of the captured record.

Layer 1: pre-build vetoes

The framework names six pre-build vetoes that any compliance product is evaluated against. VettedHaul's self-mapping follows.

Veto 1Artifact versus outcome

Pass

VettedHaul does not sell certification artifacts. There is no VettedHaul-issued "this carrier is safe" badge, no broker-side "VettedHaul certified" credential. The product output is the broker's contemporaneous vetting record itself: snapshots from FMCSA SAFER and SMS, the carrier's certificate of insurance from their agent, and the authority record. None of these are VettedHaul artifacts; VettedHaul captures and locks them.

The outcome the broker buys is the ability to produce the vetting record on subpoena. The artifact (the locked PDF + JSON pack) is descriptive of what the broker actually checked, not a guarantee of compliance with any statute.

Veto 2Independence

Pass with disclosure

Startvest LLC operates VettedHaul. Startvest also operates the directory at theintegrityframework.org where VettedHaul is listed. This is a real conflict of interest, named directly:

  • The TIF listing for VettedHaul carries an asterisk and footnote disclosing the operator relationship.
  • VettedHaul is evaluated under the same rubric and re-scanned by the same process as community listings on TIF.
  • Per-product external-evaluator engagement is the long-term independence path; not yet funded.

Veto 3Verifiability

Pass

Every claim VettedHaul makes about a carrier is mechanically verifiable:

  • FMCSA safety rating + authority status snapshots are re-verifiable against the public FMCSA SAFER system at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov.
  • CSA score snapshots are re-verifiable against the public FMCSA SMS system at ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/sms.
  • Certificate of insurance is obtained from the carrier's named agent; agent identity is verifiable against the issuing carrier.
  • The cryptographic timestamp on each per-load record is re-verifiable; the audit log of record access is preserved.

Veto 4AI accountability

Pass

VettedHaul does not currently use AI to generate compliance decisions. Vetting is mechanical: pull the FMCSA snapshot, pull the CSA snapshot, store the COI, capture the authority status. The broker makes the booking decision.

If AI is added later (e.g., risk scoring on alert-state changes), the framework's AI review gate pattern will apply. AI outputs will be advisory enrichments shown to the broker, never substituted for the broker's booking decision or for defense counsel's judgment.

Veto 5Pricing-rigor alignment

Pass

VettedHaul pricing tiers (Free / Defender $99 / Defender Pro $249) differ in capacity, monitoring depth, and export format. None of them alter the rigor of the captured record. Free-tier vetting records are identical in content to Defender Pro vetting records; the Pro tier adds API integration and white-label evidence pack formatting on top of the same underlying capture.

There is no priority queue, no badge purchase, no premium verification step.

Veto 6The TechCrunch test

Pass with named risk

The most likely critical headline 18 months out: "Broker relied on AI compliance tool, lost negligent-hiring case anyway."

Defense:

  • VettedHaul never claims to provide legal defense, only documentation of the vetting work the broker did.
  • The disclaimer "VettedHaul is not a law firm" appears in the footer of every page and is in the brief.md metadata.
  • The output format (PDF + JSON evidence pack) is what defense counsel actually uses; the value is producibility under subpoena, not assurance of victory.

A weaker but real risk: "AI carrier-vetting tool sold defective records, hid behind documentation framing." Defense: VettedHaul does not generate records via AI; it captures records that already exist (FMCSA, CSA, insurance, authority). The capture itself is mechanical and verifiable.

Layer 2: architectural constraints (applicable subset)

Framework Layer 2 constraints assume a compliance-product shape. Applicable to VettedHaul:

  • Evidence chain integrity. Per-load vetting records are cryptographically timestamped at capture and immutable after capture. The audit log of every access is preserved.
  • Self-attestation isolation. VettedHaul does not generate or modify any carrier data. It only captures snapshots of independent public records (FMCSA SAFER, SMS) and carrier-provided documents (COI from agent).
  • Evidence retention. Default retention policy: 7 years past last load for general carriers, 10 years for high-risk load types, indefinite for incident-involved loads. Federal regulation (49 CFR Part 371) sets a 3-year floor; VettedHaul exceeds it as the published default.
  • Independent verification hooks. Every artifact in a vetting record references an independent verifier (FMCSA, the carrier's insurance agent). Plaintiff's counsel or defense counsel can re-verify any element through the public FMCSA systems and the named agent.

Other Layer 2 constraints (AI review gate, conformance claim guard, methodology version pin) are N/A pre-Defender-Pro launch and will be re-evaluated when the Pro-tier API ships.

Layer 3: operational guardrails

  • Failure transparency. VettedHaul publishes a status page and posts public notes when carrier-monitoring runs fail. Brokers are alerted when the system cannot complete a scheduled re-check.
  • Public methodology page. N/A at v1.0 bronze tier. Will be authored and published at /methodology when the carrier-vetting process stabilizes past the first 50 customers. Until then, the carrier vetting checklist at /blog/carrier-vetting-checklist documents the four-check standard.
  • Customer-side compliance owner. The broker remains the compliance owner. VettedHaul does not substitute for the broker's judgment or for defense counsel.
  • Honest brand. Voice rules per the brief.md banned-phrase list. No "AI-powered carrier vetting" framing. No "Highway killer" framing. No "guarantee" or "compliance" language used as marketing.

Outstanding gaps

Known items not yet addressed at v1.0:

  • Public methodology page. Required for silver tier. Deferred until first 50 founding-customer cohort produces enough operational feedback to stabilize the methodology.
  • External-evaluator engagement. Not yet funded. Long-term path to neutralizing the Startvest-operator conflict-of-interest disclosed in Veto 2.
  • integrity@startvest.ai mailbox provisioning + external counsel SLA. Shared across the Startvest portfolio (also open on FieldLedger, ClarityLift, Hireposture, AdaCompliance, IdeaLift). One mailbox + one engagement closes the ticket across all products.
  • USPTO trademark filing. Class 9 + Class 42, ~$350 self-filed. Operational gap, not an integrity gap, but worth listing transparently.
  • Customer-funded external audit. Long-term goal; not funded at v1.0.

Changelog

  • 2026-05-20 — v1.0. Initial publication coinciding with VettedHaul launch (2026-05-19) and listing on theintegrityframework.org. Bronze tier per disclosure-asterisk per Veto 2. Will re-evaluate silver eligibility after methodology page is published.
